Why did God use the plurals US and OUR in Genesis 1:26?

And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
I believe it is referring to the unity of  The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one divine Being. We refer to the three as the Godhead or Trinity.
We are made in HIS image and we are like little Trinities.
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
Mark 12:30
The Heart is our spirit compared to Holy Spirit.
The Soul is our breath, body compared with Jesus (body), Son.
The Mind is our thoughts, intelligence compared with God the Father.
Strength is putting them all together ~ God.
We are made in God’s image!
God does not want us to love Him with just “parts” of our being, but rather, with ALL our being!

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all are God in different forms.

An analogy I like to use (steam ~ a gas, water vapor, a cloud), (ice ~ a solid, form) and (water ~ a liquid), yet they are all H2O.

The Father~Cloud
Exodus 13:21
The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Matthew 17:1 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!”

Son~Body

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
Then go to John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
So we have the Word which is God, then the Word becomes flesh. The flesh is Jesus, the flesh is God, Jesus Is God in the flesh.

The Holy Spirit~“Living Water”
John 7: 37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The Trinity Explained (with Reason)
I thought this was an interesting way to explain the Trinity.
