Paul said in Galatians 5:1” It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” The purpose of the Fruit of the Spirit is set us free from sin by showing us how to avoid sinning. We grow and mature as Children of God by bearing the Fruit of the Spirit.

Man can read the written word with man’s wisdom or with God’s spiritual wisdom. The outcome can be quiet different! The interpretations and how we see things is like night and day. I pray, please don’t get trapped in legalism! Man’s doctrine puts laws and commandments upon the Lord’s Children which should not be there. Legalism robs the freedom that Christ has given us.

Pray and ask for the Lord’s spiritual wisdom to help see the truth. Please don’t listen to man’ s wisdom but listen to what the Holy Spirit puts upon your heart. Jesus Made Love Mandatory so when reading the written word it comes alive in the hearts of those filled with love. Jesus told us to walk in the Spirit of righteousness and that means having total trust and faith in him. Let the fruit of the spirit pour out and be the light for the Lord. If one is trapped in legalism it is very difficult to see the light in them. They are as D.U.C.K.S. under the Bed. They may be “Devoted Unconditional the Christ’s Kingdom and Service” and know the written word like the back of their hand but something is missing and that is the Light!!! Legalism leads to unrighteous judgement, it causes a lack of compassion, humility, and mercy.

When we walk in the spirit, the “FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT” shines forth to other people, like a lighthouse shines forth it’s light.

You Are The Salt of the Earth ~ Matthew 5:13

YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH (1)

Matthew 5:13, is a passage that describes the Christians as being the salt of the earth. Let us read Matthew 5:13.

Matthew 5:13. You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

Christian saltiness

Even though this passage is not part of the Beatitudes, it has a lot to do with the Beatitudes. The people who are said to be blessed because they are poor in spirit, because they mourn, because they are meek, these are precisely the people who, by their Christlikeness, are the salt of the earth. ‘The blessed man of the Beatitudes,’ the Lord Jesus says, ‘is to function as the salt of the earth.’

Notice that the last Beatitude changes from ‘Blessed are those who’ to ‘Blessed are you.’ The first eight statements were impersonal. Anyone who is like this is blessed. But now in v. 11, the last Beatitude makes it very specific that Jesus is talking about His disciples. Blessed are you (My disciples) when people revile you. And this ‘you’ continues into v. 13, You are the salt of the earth, connecting this verse directly to the Beatitudes.

Symbol of God’s purifying power

The Christians are the salt of the earth. How should we understand this matter of salt? What is the meaning of this metaphor? This metaphor is meant to picture how the disciple of Christ is to function in the world, how he is to influence the world in which he lives. Salt has several properties. We all know from experience that salt has to do with purifying. It has to do with preservation. It has to do with giving taste to food. All these characteristics are used in the Bible in connection with salt. Let us look at an example of the purifying effect of salt in the OT. We will turn to 2Kings 2:19-22, a section in which we find the prophet Elisha using salt for a specific purpose.

2Kings 2:19. Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold now, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is unfruitful.”

20 And he said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.

21 And he went out to the spring of water, and threw salt in it and said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘I have purified these waters; there shall not be from there death or unfruitfulness any longer.'”

22 So the waters have been purified to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

Here we see Elisha putting salt into the Jericho spring water. And he declared at the same time, ‘I have purified these waters.’ By adding salt to water, Elisha was able to purify the Jericho water. Now, we should not imagine that salt has any miraculous healing property. In fact, adding salt to water normally makes water worse, not better. We would miss the point of this passage if we think strictly in terms of chemistry.

We are told that the water from a spring had turned bad. This physical situation reflected the spiritual barrenness of Israel caused by idolatry. Elisha’s solution was designed to teach the people a spiritual lesson: the power of holiness to purify. The whole point of Elisha’s action lies in the symbolism of the salt. Salt was known by the Israelites to preserve and purify. The miracle that happened did not lie in the salt itself but in the power of God. Notice the words of Elisha: ‘Thus says the Lord.’ It was so according to the words which Elisha spoke. The authority, the power to heal came from the Lord working through Elisha. Salt is used here as a symbol that signifies purity or holiness. It represents the power of holiness to purify.

This kind of symbolism is used in various forms in the Bible. Take for example James 5.14 where we read that you anoint the sick person with oil and pray over him. What is the significance of anointing a sick person with oil? Does oil have any curative property? No. Oil is not considered are a therapeutic agent in medicine. Nor does it have any magical properties. The healing does not lie in the action of applying the oil. Olive oil, in the Bible, symbolizes the person and the power of the Holy Spirit. And in this passage of James, the oil is meant to remind us that it is God who heals. The oil doesn’t heal you. The healing power comes from the Spirit of God, who is symbolized by the oil.

So in the case of Elisha’s purifying action, salt was not the cause of the miracle that took place. It should be viewed as a spiritual symbol that represents God’s purifying power. When Jesus says that the Christians are the salt of the earth, it doesn’t mean that we have anything special in ourselves that makes us to be like salt. It is Christ in us that makes us to be what we are. And if we are the salt of the earth, it is only because God’s power is at work in us to make us to be salt. Without God in us, we wouldn’t be anything. It is all of God’s grace that we are what we are.

Salt must accompany every sacrifice

Let us take another example that highlights the purifying virtue of salt. Salt preserves. It keeps things from going bad, from decaying. At the spiritual level, it symbolizes the power to cleanse from filth, to cleanse from corruption. And hence, it becomes an emblem of incorruption and purity. That is why no sacrifice in the OT could be presented before God without the addition of salt. Salt had to be offered with all the sacrifices. We see that in Leviticus 2.13 for example.

Leviticus 2:13. And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.

Salt had to accompany every sacrifice. You can see the meaning of this requirement. Holiness and purity had to come with the sacrifice.

This is of course what happens to us as Christians by the power of the gospel. As salt is used to preserve meat from spoiling, so does the gospel prevent man from being corrupted by sin. And as salt was indispensable to make sacrifices acceptable to God, so must we become salt by the Holy Spirit in offering ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. When salt comes into our lives, we are being purified by it. Remember that there is a stage in which we first receive the light. And then we become light. ‘You will receive light from Christ,’ Paul says to the Ephesians. Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you (Ephesians 5:14). Christ will give you light. It is after we receive the light of Christ that we become light. Likewise, it is after we receive the purifying work of the God by the Holy Spirit, pictured here as salt, that we become salt.

Season your speech with salt

So in the OT, all the sacrifices had to be seasoned with salt. In the NT, there is something else that has to be seasoned with salt. Paul says that our speech has to be seasoned with salt. Let us read this interesting passage. It will give us a more specific understanding of this picture of salt. Colossians 4:5-6.

Colossians 4:5. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Our speech, as Christians, must be seasoned with salt. Now, what does that mean? How do we ‘season’ our talk with salt? Here we need to understand the spiritual meaning of salt. What does salt represent in that verse?

An important clue is given to us in our main passage, Matthew 5:13. It will not be obvious to you if you depend solely on an English Bible. What do we read? You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste. This is not exactly what we find in the Greek text. A literal translation would be, ‘If the salt has become foolish.’ Unfortunately this idea of foolishness is not apparent in the way it is translated in our English Bibles. So salt loses its taste in the sense that it becomes foolish, or that it acts foolishly. This gives us an important clue to the meaning of salt. It tells us that salt is meant to express spiritual wisdom since the opposite of foolishness is wisdom. And if you become foolish, it means that you have lost the spiritual wisdom. You are a fool when you are lacking spiritual wisdom.

There is a word in Hebrew that has, at the same time, the meaning of ‘being tasteless’ and ‘being foolish.’ This word is found in Job 6.6. Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, or is there any taste in the white of an egg? How can we give taste to something that is tasteless? How will I find taste in the white of an egg unless I put salt on it? The same Hebrew word for tasteless appears in Lamentations 2:14 to mean ‘foolish.’ Your prophets have seen for you false and foolish visions. So the same Hebrew word can either mean ‘lacking in taste,’ or ‘being foolish.’

Christian wisdom

This is important to understand because wisdom, in the biblical sense, has a strong moral emphasis and it often stands in contrast to folly. In Proverb 29:11, we see how one is unrestrained in his speech and the other is able to control himself. A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back. Wisdom is shown not in the knowledge of a person but in his conduct. It has more to do with what we are and what we do than what we know.

In the NT, the contrast is between earthly wisdom and heavenly wisdom. The earthly wisdom is carnal, unspiritual, and selfish. But the wisdom from above has Christlike qualities. We have a list of these qualities in James 3.17.

James 3:17. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

As we read this verse, I wonder if you took the trouble to count the number of qualities that are mentioned here. How many do you see? (1) pure; (2) peaceable; (3) gentle; (4) reasonable; (5) full of mercy; (6) good fruits; (7) unwavering; (8) without hypocrisy. James describes spiritual wisdom by these 8 qualities. And yet, there is one more. James 3:13.

James 3:13. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.

The meekness of wisdom. Eight plus one makes nine. Meekness reminds us of what? The Beatitudes! Blessed are the meek. How many Beatitudes do we have? Nine Beatitudes. Interesting. Is this a coincidence? We saw the ninefold fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. We saw how the nine Beatitudes can be linked to the Lord’s Prayer. And here, James speaks of wisdom as having these ninefold characteristics.

Why do we say this? Well, because there is a close connection with the topic of salt. The connection is that salt represents this kind of spiritual wisdom. Being the salt of the earth means that you reflect in your conduct these nine characteristics of the wisdom from above.

The richness of the Word of God is so remarkable. We have now a deeper understanding of what should be the qualities of a disciple of Christ. We can think of a disciple in terms of the Beatitudes. We can think of a disciple in terms of the fruit of the Spirit. Now, we can think of a disciple in terms of the wisdom which is from above. And we can make this our prayer in terms of the Lord’s Prayer.

Dying, burning and dissolving

We said that salt was used in the ancient world as an agent in the preservation of food, especially meat. It prevents food from decay. Now, how does salt do that? How does salt keep things from going bad? Think of the last time you used salt. You put some salt in your food. If you look at it, what do you see happening? The salt disappears. It dissolves into the food. Here is the clue to an important aspect of the nature of the disciple and what he is called to do in this world.

Salt functions by dissolving, by losing itself, by dying. John 12:24 uses the picture of a seed that falls into the ground and dies. And by dying, it brings forth much fruit. Salt functions in the same way. It falls into the food and it dies. It dissolves. And there, it brings forth its effectiveness. That is how it can preserve. That is how it can give flavor. If salt doesn’t dissolve, it cannot do any of these things. Salt works by dissolving, by losing itself.

Think of light. How does light function? Well, light functions in exactly the same way, by giving itself away. Look at a candle. It gets shorter and shorter. If the candle is to give light to the room, it cannot remain at the same length. It has to burn itself out in order to give light. It literally burns itself to death, until it disappears completely.

This is the kind of picture that the Lord Jesus chooses to describe the life of a disciple. The oil is burning away in order to give light. The salt dissolves and loses itself in order to fulfill its function to preserve. The seed falls into the ground and dies. And only so, it becomes fruitful. ‘Otherwise,’ Jesus says, ‘the grain of wheat will abide by itself alone.’ Salt will remain by itself just as a lump of salt if it doesn’t dissolve. And it would be good for nothing.

The self-giving attitude of spiritual wisdom

Now, this is exactly how divine wisdom functions. Take 1Corinthians 1:23-24. Here Paul tells us what is the nature of divine wisdom.

1Corinthians 1:23. But we preach Christ crucified (Christ who died on the cross. The Son of God who perished. The Son of God who gave Himself on the cross for the remission of our sins), to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness (this message about somebody who dies on the cross to save the world is plain stupidity. It was a stumbling block to the Jews because they could not accept that the Messiah could die as a criminal. It was foolishness to the Greeks because they could not make sense of a story in which a god gets himself crucified by his enemies),

24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God(Christ crucified, that is the wisdom of God).

You think that it is just a stupid fable? As offensive as it may be to your mind, that is precisely the wisdom of God, a wisdom that gives itself. ‘That when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, when we were still His enemies,’ Paul says in Colossians, ‘Christ died for us.’ You see, that is the divine wisdom. That is how divine wisdom looks like. It is Christ crucified, Christ who gave Himself on the cross.

Back to Colossians 4:6. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt. Now we know what it means. Seasoned with spiritual wisdom. Let all that you say be seasoned with spiritual wisdom. Let all your words be expressed with a self-giving attitude. Our talk must be applied to the profit and the edification of the hearers. You can see that salt has in itself this divine wisdom. It has as its quality a self-giving nature.

No wonder that salt was offered with all the sacrifices in the OT. Do you see the meaning? There is no use offering a sacrifice externally to God without the spiritual meaning of salt being present, namely that you give yourself as you offer the sacrifice. Otherwise the rich man would have an advantage over the poor man. A rich person can easily give a hundred sheep whereas the poor man can hardly give a pigeon. Then the rich would have all the advantage. That is not how it works with God. It is not so much what you give. It is how you give and that in giving, you give of yourself. And this gift must come from a pure heart. Otherwise you have given nothing at all. Jesus said, ‘If you have offended a brother, don’t even bother give any sacrifice to God. It will not be accepted.’ First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering (Matthew 5:24).

You are the salt of the earth. You are not like the world. By your Christian character, you are to act like salt in your community. But in order to be effective, you must retain your Christian character. Salt must retain its saltiness. In our next lesson, we will see how Christians can lose their influence in the society.

YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH (2)

In our previous lesson, we studied the words of our Lord Jesus in Matthew 5:13. This is what He said.

Matthew 5:13. You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

The Christian’s retraining influence

By this statement, Jesus is implicitly saying that the world is turning more and more rotten. The world cannot stop itself from going bad. That is why it needs salt. The Lord Jesus is telling His disciples, ‘The world needs you. You are the salt of the earth and you must stop it from going bad.’ God wants the Christians to be the salt that will hinder the process of social decay.

Of course, God has given man other retraining influences to keep the society in order. In His common grace, i.e., in His favor shown to all mankind (saved and unsaved), God has established certain institutions in order to prevent the society from falling into anarchy. There is for example the institution of the government. The state has the authority and the power to punish evil. There is also the institution of marriage. Home and family life help to promote good morals. So these divine institutions have a restraining influence, as far as sin is concerned, in the society as a whole.

However, God wants His own people, the regenerate and righteous people, to be the most powerful retraining influence in a sinful society. The Christians are called to become like a moral disinfectant in a world where moral standards are low. It is in that sense that you and I are meant to be the salt of the earth, an influence for good in the world.

Losing your saltiness

So the affirmation is that we, as Christians, are the salt of the earth. But there is a condition attached to that affirmation. What is that condition? The condition is that you retain your Christian saltiness. Jesus goes on to say, but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

Here we want to spend some time to look carefully at this question of losing your saltiness. If you take the time to consult commentaries on this matter, you will notice that most of them emphasize the fact that salt itself, i.e., the chemical compound, cannot lose its saltiness. They explain this ‘loss of saltiness’ in v. 13 by the mixture of salt with impurities. We are dealing with Dead Sea salt which contains a lot of impurity. And this salt, under certain conditions (for example, if it comes in contact with the ground or if it is exposed to rain and sun), can become tasteless. It still looks like salt, but it has lost its saltiness.

Well, there is probably some truth in all this explanation, at least from a chemical viewpoint. But I am not so sure that Jesus was concerned about chemistry. It seems to me that all this explanation is necessary because we are very hesitant to conclude that a disciple can lose his Christian qualities, that he can lose his distinctive character, described here in the metaphoric language of salt. Some have suggested that this is impossible, that what Jesus is saying is simply a supposition that can never happen.

I find this kind of reasoning quite unsatisfactory. What we have here is clearly a warning. If it is impossible for Christians to cease to be salt, then there is no point for the Lord Jesus to give us the second part of the sentence. He could have just said, ‘You are the salt of the earth,’ period. But He mentions also a condition and we must take it into consideration. It would be unwise to turn a blind eye to this warning.

A form of Christianity that denies its power

Let us look at the parallel passage in Luke 14 so that we can feel the full force of this warning. Luke brings out the importance of Jesus’ words in Luke 14:34-35.

Luke 14:34. Salt is good; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored?

35 It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill; men throw it away.(And then, He concludes with these solemn words). He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

‘Let him take careful note,’ the Lord Jesus says, ‘of what I am saying to you.’ Be careful that you do not lose this salt quality, that you do not ‘run out of gas,’ if we want to use a modern expression. Because when salt loses its taste, it cannot be restored again. This wording reminds us very much of Hebrews 6 where we read that those who once tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and then fall away, it is impossible to restore them again to repentance. When salt loses its saltiness, with what shall you restore it? It cannot be restored, and therefore it is good for nothing. What do you do with it? You throw it out on the street where it is trampled under foot by men.

Here then is a serious warning. And it is important for us to consider this question. How does salt come about to lose its saltiness at the spiritual level? In what way does a Christian cease to function as a Christian?

When I reflect on this question, I think about the warning that Paul gives us in 2Timothy 3:5. Paul says that in the last days, there will be a form of godliness which denies the power of it. And I wonder if it is this picture of salt that he has in mind. You see, when the salt has lost its saltiness, it still looks like salt, whether it is mixed with impurities or not. It is still white. It is still granular. It is still powdery. But if you taste it, you notice that it doesn’t have any salty taste anymore. It still has the form of salt, but it denies its power, i.e., it denies its effectiveness.

Paul says that this is what is going to happen in the last days. For men will be … holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power (2Timothy 3:5). There will come a kind of Christianity that has all the outward appearance of Christianity. It goes through all the motions of Christianity. It uses the language of Christianity. It still speaks the liturgy of Christianity. But although it still looks like Christianity on the outside, it has no more the internal effectiveness. It has no more the power of Christianity. The salt has deteriorated to the point that it is left with nothing but the name. The substance is gone.

So we are confronted with this question. How does the salt lose its saltiness? What are the things that might cause it? Regarding this question, I would like to give you three reasons that cause a Christian to cease to function as a Christian, and therefore to become useless to God. In order to do this, we will consider the three passages in the Lord’s teaching that speak about this idea of salt losing its saltiness. We have already mentioned two of these passages: Luke 14:34 and Matthew 5:13. The third verse is found in Mark 9:50.

The loss of saltiness due to lack of commitment

First, let us return to Luke 14:34. We will read it one more time, using this time the New American Standard version.

Luke 14:34. Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?

Notice the conjunction ‘therefore.’ ‘Therefore, salt is good.’ This word is found in the original text but unfortunately, it does not appear in many English translations. It is an important word because it connects the picture of salt to the verses that come before v. 34. In other words, what we find before v. 34 explains how salt can lose its taste. So in order to determine why salt becomes tasteless, we have to look at the context of Jesus’ teaching. And the best place to start is to go back to v. 25 where Jesus begins to teach what discipleship may entail for a believer in the face of rejection. This is what Jesus says.

Luke 14:25. Now great multitudes were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them,

26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

27 “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Identifying with Jesus automatically involves some suffering and some rejection in the world. And Jesus is saying, ‘If you love your family or even yourself more than Me, then you will never decide to come to Me because you will find that the cost of following Me is too high for you.’ Remember that all this is connected with our passage on salt. The salt refuses to dissolve, to carry his cross, to die. Let us look at the next section.

Luke 14:28. “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

29 “Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him,

30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

People mocked this man. He begins building and he can’t finish the work. In other words, he is a fool. The salt has become foolish. Remember what we said in our previous lesson. When Jesus talks about the salt losing its taste, it is in the sense that it acts foolishly. And here, the salt has lost its saltiness precisely because it acted foolishly. He did not count the cost of his project. Now he has to face the shame of not finishing what he has started. Then v. 31.

Luke 14:31. “Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and take counsel whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand?32 “Or else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks terms of peace.

33 “So therefore, no one of you can be My disciple who doesnot give up all his own possessions.

Equally foolish is a king who wants to go to war without assessing whether he can win with the resources that he has. So he goes to war, but he soon realizes that he is not strong enough to win the battle. And therefore, he has to surrender. He is a fool because now he becomes a captive. He has lost his freedom. You want to fight for righteousness? Don’t be a fool. Count the cost of a commitment to Jesus before you decide that you are going to fight for righteousness.

Now we begin to see the connection. We see why salt loses its taste. It happens when someone goes back on his original commitment. You begin to follow Jesus but you stop because you are pulled away by other commitments. You start building, but then you decide that it is too costly to finish. You go back on your original commitment. As Peter says, it is like the dog that returns to its vomit (2 Peter 2:22). You begin well and you end badly. Your last state is worse than your first. It would have been much better for you not to have started at all than to start, and then to turn away from your initial commitment. Either you start and you stick to the end, or you don’t start at all. You count your cost first. So the disciple who retains his saltiness is the disciple who understands his commitment to God and he sticks it through to the end.

The loss of saltiness due to sin

That is the first point. The second reason that explains how salt can lose its savor is given to us by the context of the other passage. This is what Jesus says in Mark 9:50.

Mark 9:50. “Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Here again, we need to get the whole context. What is the context of this verse? Let us go back to v. 42.

Mark 9:42 “And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.

43 “And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire,

44 {where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.}

45 “And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than having your two feet, to be cast into hell,

46 {where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.}

47 “And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell,

48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

And then, Jesus goes on to talk about salt losing its saltiness.

Mark 9:49 “For everyone will be salted with fire.

50 “Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

What causes salt to lose its saltiness in this case? Notice the emphasis of this passage. Causing a little one to stumble. This is the sin of leading others to commit sin. Your hand causing you to stumble. This is the sin of the hand. Your foot causing you to stumble. This is the sin of the foot. Your eye causing you to stumble. This is the sin of the eye. By these examples, the Lord Jesus tells us how terrible sin is, and He gives a warning to the sinner. Every man is personally responsible for his sin. If a person weakens under temptation to the point that he enters into sin, that is when he is going to lose his saltiness.

Remember what Jesus said in Matthew. The salt that has lost its saltiness will be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. ‘To be thrown out’ is an expression often used to indicate one’s exclusion from the kingdom of God (Matthew 8:12; 22:13; John 6:37; 15:6). Here in Mark, Jesus says the same thing, but using slightly different words. Three times in this passage, He talks about the fire of hell, about being cast into the unquenchable fire of hell. Never fool around with sin. You cannot afford the luxury of falling into sin. And that is why in the Lord’s Prayer, we say, ‘Lead us not into temptation.’ We are asking for God’s help to prevent us from falling into temptation. And God will provide a way to escape temptation.

The loss of saltiness due to persecution

Let us come to the third reason that explains why salt becomes tasteless. We will return to our passage in Matthew 5. What is the immediate context of Matthew 5:13? We saw in our previous lesson that v. 13 is directly connected to the Beatitudes, and more specifically to the last Beatitude, by the word ‘you’ in v. 11. ‘Blessed are you when men revile and persecute you.’ It is clear that Jesus is talking about His disciples. And immediately after that, He goes on to say, You are the salt of the earth. The people who are being persecuted are to be the salt of the earth.

This ‘you’ gives us the clue to understand why salt loses its saltiness. When hard times come and you break under the pressure, that is when you can lose your saltiness. It is like the seed that was sown in the Parable of the Sower. It fell on a rocky place. And when the sun rose, what happened? It withered away and died because it had no root. The salt has lost its saltiness. And Jesus tells us that the sun symbolizes the persecution that arises because of the word and that causes a man to fall away (Matthew 13:20-21).

The disciple’s responsibility

When Jesus calls us ‘salt of the earth’, He is also giving us a responsibility. ‘You are the salt of the earth; therefore retain your saltiness. Otherwise you become a useless disciple.’ Jesus expects that we will retain our saltiness, that we will not lose our Christlike character.

And we saw in this lesson that there are three things that can cause a Christian to lose this salt quality, and therefore to cease to function as a disciple. You can lose your saltiness if you go back on your initial commitment to God. You give up because you discover that the cost of following Jesus exceeds your commitment. You can lose your saltiness if you allow sin to tempt you. How can you be the salt of the earth when you live in sin? And finally, you can lose your saltiness when you break under persecution. You fail to remain faithful to the end.

In all this, we must ask God to sustain us and to give us what it takes to remain distinct from the world so that we can have this restraining influence that prevents the society from lapsing into its own decadence.

Was Jesus God in the Flesh?
Did Jesus ever say “I am God” in those exact words? The answer lays in what He did say and how the Jews responded to His words. In John 10:30, Jesus said, “I and My Father are one.” “The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God” John 10:33. They clearly understood that Jesus claimed to be God.

Jesus knew he was God. In John 8:58 Jesus tells the Jews “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM.” After Jesus says he is “I AM” the Jews become angry and try to stone Him. Again the Jews understood Jesus proclaimed to be God.

Jesus God In The Flesh
1 John 5:20
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

We are in His Son Jesus Christ the true God and eternal life.

Jesus Christ is the true God and eternal Life.


JOHN 3:16

Eternal Life comes by believing In (JESUS the true God).


After Jesus was crucified,Thomas His Apostle wanted proof He had risen~

Jesus never denied being God when Thomas called Him “my Lord and my God”

Lets examine John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
Then go to John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. So we have the Word which is God, then the Word becomes flesh. The flesh is Jesus, the flesh is God, Jesus Is God in the flesh.
The Word teaches us that Jesus was born of a virgin and conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was both God and man!

Philippians 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Concerning the Trinity!
Luke 1:37 “For nothing will be impossible with God. There is the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are each equally and eternally the ONE true God.
Here is an Analogy I like to use~
It is like H2O in three different forms: water is the liquid form of H2O, ice is the solid form of H2O, steam is the gas of H2O. They are All H2O.

Rick Atchley really puts some light on why there is so much division and a lack of unity in the Church of Christ. Let’s ask ourselves this question. When Scripture is silent, do we have freedom or prohibition? Is this Grace or Legalism? Please watch and see if this is not true. May Grace be with each and everyone of you!

LEGALISM KILLS ~ It leads to a Dead End

Legalism kills and that road leads to death!

Paul said in Galatians 5:1” It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”The purpose of the Fruit of the Spirit has set us free from sin by telling us how to avoid sinning. We grow and mature as Children of God by bearing the Fruit of the Spirit.

 As Children of God it is important we pray and ask the Lord’s for His spiritual wisdom to help see the truth. Jesus Made Love Mandatory so when reading the written word it comes alive in the hearts of those filled with love. Jesus told us to walk in the Spirit of righteousness and that means having total trust and faith in him. Let the fruit of the spirit pour out and be a light for the Lord. If one is trapped in legalism it is very difficult to see any light in them. They are as D.U.C.K.S. under the Bed.

The acronym D.U.C.K.S. stands for “Devoted Unconditionally to Christ’s Kingdom and Service”. One may be “Devoted Unconditional the Christ’s Kingdom and Service” and know the written word like the back of their hand but something is missing and that is the Light! Legalism causes divisions among the Lord’s children. Legalism leads to unrighteous judgement, it causes a lack of compassion, humility, and mercy. Growing in the Lord is a journey, many of us will fall, having trials and tribulations. As long as we have Jesus as our ARK and are filled with His Fruit, we walk in the LIGHT.

Luke 8:16-17
“Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or PUTS IT UNDER A BED; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. “For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.


When we walk in the spirit, the “FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT”
shines forth to other people,
like a lighthouse shines forth it’s light.

~Calling All D.U.C.K.S. To Come Out From Under The Bed~

On a Personal Note~ I first want to say I love those in the Church of Christ and they hold a special place in my heart. The Lord took me out of an abusive situation and planted me in the church as a teen through my foster parents which I am so thankful for. I was taught that only those in the conservative Church of Christ would be saved. I never understood legalism till later in life. After leaving my foster home I soon left the church, got married and divorced, my ex’s use of porn was our down fall. Later I remarried and had 3 children. I returned to a more liberal Church of Christ and they welcomed our family with open arms. I learned the church was going to build a Fellowship Hall using church funds, being brought up in a conservative Church of Christ that was a no, no, and I felt I had to leave. I then went to a conservative Church of Christ much like the one I use to go to as a teen, I was so excited and felt I was home only to be short lived. When they learned I was remarried, they said my second marriage was adultery. A first divorce over porn was not considered adultery which meant I was never to marry again. They said the only way to repent was to divorce my second husband, there was No mercy. I could NOT be a member of the church while I was still married to my second husband. Well, the Lord opened my eyes and showed me I did not need to be a member of the Church of the Christ with walls, I was already a member of the body of Christ and there was NO walls. The Lord does NOT want His children living in Bondage! I pray eyes will be opened to the Truth!!!

In the beginning of 2006 the Lord put it in my heart to fast. I was having health issues. My blood pressure was high and the doctor increased my dosage of Norvasc to 10 mg now another drug was being added Enalapril 5 mg. I had stopped taking it because I didn’t like the side effects. I started searching for alternative medicine and cures. In my research I learned about the Master Cleanser. I learned about how we need to eat to have a more alkaline body. Many of us have acidic bodies which fester diseases, the perfect environment for cancer. I went out and bought test strips to test the PH in my body and I found I was very acidic. I would think about fasting but for some reason I was never motivated enough. Then May 6, 2006 Sammy (my daughter’s boyfriend) took his own life and it changed mine. I was hurting and I knew the Lord was the only one who could help me. The Lord led me to make a MySpace site for Sammy and the Holy Spirit took me step by step moving in me like never before. But then after six months of the Holy Spirit directing me I wasn’t feeling his presence as much. I was beginning to feel physically worse. My blood pressure was getting higher. Also I had a great amount of itching under my skin, my skin was rashy. I started thinking maybe the itching was coming from my liver because when I would eat it would get worse. I believed my liver had too many toxins and it was being overworked and couldn’t handle it all. Then the Holy Spirit laid it on my heart again to fast, but this time he was telling me 40 days. I was reaffirmed on Dec 23, 2006 when my blood pressure reached an all time high of 202/124. I felt like my eyes wanted to pop and my head felt like it was going to burst. Mind you, I had never spiritually fasted before and in church they never taught about fasting, but the Holy Spirit was putting it in my heart. The Lord knew the perfect timing, with over 5000 friends on the MySpace site and knowing how many were hurting from depression, sickness, abuse, losses, financial problems, addictions and etc. I knew he wanted me to do the fast. The Lord had prepared me earlier in the year because he had a purpose that I had no idea was coming. Now fasting was no longer just for me, but for all those on the site plus I had many prayer requests coming in for people with special needs. Now I had the motivation while before I didn’t. I knew I needed to give up TV and the internet in order to focus more on the Lord, so that is what I did.
Fasting is just as important today as it was thousands of years ago. The bible doesn’t say if you fast, it says when you fast Matthew 6:16-17. Many Christians today over look the importance of fasting. I would always quote if you have faith of a mustard seed you can move a mountain, but the very next verse Matthew 17:21 says “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Now Jesus was talking about casting out demons, but if you have a great need, praying and fasting maybe just what the doctor (Jesus) ordered. Before taking on any fast, pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Never attempt a long fast without the Lord speaking to you and letting you know this is his will for you. Many fast are mentioned in the bible. The bible speaks of fast that lasted one night, one day, three days, seven days, fourteen days, twenty-one days and forty days. There are 23 fasting stories in the Old Testament and 12 in the New Testament. When Jesus fasted in Luke 4:1, the bible says Jesus was filled with the Spirit. Now take a look at Luke 4:14 it says Jesus has been tempted by Satan and has defeated him, something has changed. The bible now says Jesus has the power of the Spirit. So we can see there is a difference between being filled with the Spirit and having the power of the Spirit. Fasting is a way to release God’s power in our own lives. When we fast it is a choice for God and against our flesh. We are making a conscious inward choice demonstrated by an outward act that we want God’s power to flow through us, not our own. It shows God we want his answer and not our own. The Pharisees fasted and wondered why Jesus’ disciples didn’t. Jesus responded “While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day” Mark 2:19-20. So you can see fasting was never done away with. It is just as important today as it was for the early Christians. Something else I learned I thought was interesting, did you know even the animals fasted In Jonah 3:5-10? Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything, do not let them eat, or drink water.

Last night I had a dream of Jesus holding my hands giving me support. It was a silhouette of him kneeling down on one knee. This is first time I have ever had a silhouette dream. I know this is the Lord letting me know not to worry” I will be with you, helping you”…

I quit drinking coffee Dec. 24, 2006 so I wouldn’t have a bad headache today when I started my fast. I got up around 8:00AM and fixed the sea salt flush. Drinking a quart isn’t that easy, that is 32 oz. The taste isn’t pleasant, after getting it all down it made my stomach somewhat nauseous, but I must admit it works well. By 4:00 PM I have downed 6 glasses of the lemon cleanser. I am feeling a little hungry. I have rubbed peppermint oil on the sides of my face and the back of my neck which is refreshing. By 10:00PM I downed 4 more.

This morning I woke up at 7:00 and drank the sea salt flush. By 4:00PM I have drank 5 glasses of the lemon cleanser. I feel a little depressed. I have been praying. I am very hungry and I want food really bad. Lord help me get through this. I know I can’t do this without you. My stomach is rumbling. I had 2 more glasses of the lemon cleanser. I checked my blood pressure. It is 200/103. I drank a smooth move. My thoughts are clouded. I prayed and listened to my audio bible.

I thank a glass of smooth move. Last night I was sweating some. I feel tired and a little depressed. I pray my thoughts of food will fade. I drank 6 glasses of the lemon cleanser. I took a bath in the spa using Epsom salt and ginger. I spent about 20 minutes in the tub. I am drinking another smooth move..

This morning I got up around 6:00AM. I drank a pint (16 oz) of the sea salt flush. My hips and legs ache. My right eye has red puffiness under it and I have a zit on my chest. I have been asking the Lord to remove my desire for food. I really miss eating. Today I drank 6 glasses of the lemon cleanser. I jogged about ¾ of a mile in a light sprinkle. Being around food is hard. My family eats and I can smell it in the kitchen. Tonight I cooked spaghetti for my husband and as I cooked it I was thinking about how thankful I am for our food God gives us. I took another spa bath, but I used sea salt, ginger and hydrated Bentonite. I drank a smooth move. Fasting makes you appreciate food. Thank You Jesus!

Today I started with a smooth move. This morning the top part of my legs ache but not as bad as yesterday. This morning I got in the spa and used peppermint castile soap. It helped my achy legs. I drank 8 lemon cleansers.
This evening I feel better than I have in a long time. I am starting to feel alive, more awake, and I am beginning to feel more energy.
Tonight I don’t feel as hungry as I had been feeling. I am going to drink a smooth move. Dear Lord take my desire for food away. When Jesus fasted and Satan tempted him to turn stone to bread Jesus said man does not live by bread alone.
I took another spa bath with Epsom salt and ginger (tub time is a great time to pray). I continue to pray that I am doing this fast in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. I thank Jesus and all those on MySpace who are praying for me.

I got up and drank a smooth move. My right ear feels strange. I feel something going on inside of my ear. My legs still ache a little. Today I drank 8 lemon cleansers. I went jogging which I like to refer to as a spiritual run because I pray while I jog. I ran 1 mile which was easier than I thought it would be. When I finally started to think about how far I had gone I noticed I was coming up on my 1 mile marker. I came home and got in the spa using Epsom salt and ginger. My family has been eating around me and I am getting use to not eating. I still have desire for food but it is getting easier. I hear fireworks popping and I am thankful the Lord is helping me get through this fast. My blood pressure was better today than it has been in years 117/76. What a difference from least than 2 weeks ago when my blood pressure was 202/124 and my head and eyes were killing me. Man’s wisdom and God’s wisdom are different. I had people say you need to lower your blood pressure before you start your fast. But I have put my trust in Jesus and I know he will heal me. He is the great physician.

Happy New Year! I got up around 7:00AM. I made my sea salt flush. I drank about a pint of it. I found that works well for me. It flushes me out well. Trying to drink a quart is hard to get down. I want to mention you would never want to leave your home for at least 2 to 2 ½ hours after taking in the salt water. By 2 ½ hours all the water has gone through me. When I do the sea salt flush it make be thirstier. I am not as hungry today as before. Actually it isn’t hunger, but just the thought of food. It is a lot better now. Everyday I pray and in between I am thanking the Lord for all he has done for me. My friends on MySpace, Sammy family, my family and friends have been part of my daily prayers. Again I can’t thank you enough for all your prayers that are coming to me. The Lord knew the right time for this fast. I went jogging (my spiritual run). My husband took before and after pictures. As I prayed the Lord was letting me know the importance of never trying to do a fast of this sort without prayer. Prayer is of the most importance in order to be successful in completing your fast. I drank 6 lemon cleansers and a smooth move.

I got up and drank a smooth move around 8:00AM. I got a late start today. It is almost 11:00AM and I am on my first lemon cleanser. I am a little sleepy right now probably because I stayed up later than I should have.
Well, it is 7:30 PM and I made my 7th lemon cleanser. Today I have been more tired and hungry. My son was cooking Eggplant Parmesan with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese and I could smell it throughout the whole house. Even after I left the house I could still smell it when I got in my car. I think the smell stuck to my clothes. This day has been harder. I noticed that since I have been fasting I get colder now, before I was always hot. I didn’t jog today. I find when I jog I am less hungry. Everyday I go through the prayer request at least twice and I want you to know I am praying for you. I know I will sleep well tonight because I am very tired. I am on my 8th glass of lemon cleanser and then have a smooth move. Lord I pray tomorrow will be easier than today. I pray it will be more like yesterday.

During the night I was so cold. The last two days have been this way. I drank a smooth move. Today I tried using lime instead of lemon in my cleanser. The taste isn’t much different other than the lime makes it a little more tangy. I jogged 1 mile. When I got home I took a ginger and Epsom salt bath in the spa. I didn’t want to get out. Ginger causes your nose to run and you will feel a burning all over your body. I find it very refreshing. Today I had 8 lime cleansers and another smooth move.

Well, it is day 10. I got up around 7:00AM. I weighted this morning and I have lost 14 pounds. I took my blood pressure and I got an amazing reading of 109/69 heartbeat was 71. On Dec. 13, 2006 I had a reading of 202/ 124 (That night I was praying, Lord please don’t let me have a stroke before I get a chance to start my fast. I had the worse heartache that night.) My blood pressure was never that low when I was taking blood pressure medicine. One thing I have discovered is you always get different readings from one arm to the other. My blood pressure is usually lower with my left arm. I drank a smooth move. This morning I took chicken off the bones for the dogs with no problem. I laid in the spa using hydrated Bentonite. It is 5:30PM and I am on my 7th lemon cleanser. My son was eating pizza and I am missing food bad. I feel a little depressed. Lord help me, please don’t let me fail. I know I can only do this with your help. I finished my 8th lemon cleanser and then had a smooth move

It’s my birthday, I am 51 years old. I drank the sea salt flush and my stomach feels bad. I have a red bump that has come out in my ear. The sea salt flush was rough this morning. I know it is important because toxins left in the intestines can get reabsorbed back into the body and make a person really sick. My husband scrambled eggs this morning but I had no problem with it. Today was good. I jogged 1 mile and laid in the spa using ginger and Epsom salt. I drank 6 lemon cleansers today. I ended my day with a smooth move.

Every morning and evening I take time to pray. I go through each prayer request. Throughout the day I say little prayers. I just want to say thanks to everyone who has been praying for me. I know I wouldn’t have made it this far without the Lord and all of your prayers.
I woke up around 7:30AM and had a smooth move. You can taste the licorice in it which I like. It is 2:20PM and my older son cooked pizza and I can smell it all over the house. The smell is making me hungry. Lord take my desire for food away. I was itching a little and I had a little burning sensation in both arms. Maybe I am releasing more toxins today. I just showered and feel a little burning around the outside of my mouth. I am a little tired right now.
I took a short nap and then got up. I had a 30 minute workout. I have been getting the hiccups a lot lately. This evening my husband and youngest son went out to eat which is good. I won’t have to smell food cooking. Today I drank 8 lemon cleansers and had another smooth move. I was a little irritable today.

This morning I got up around 8:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. For the most part I have felt pretty good through this fast other than the desire and hunger for food. I know the Lord is with me and all those prayers you are getting me through this. I listen to gospel music. I have been listening to Tim Hughes-“Here I Am to Worship”. It is so uplifting. I took a nap and got up. I then had a short workout. My husband took my old back-swing out of the attic. I bought it 30 years ago and I hung upside down for a little while. It stretches your vertebras in the spine. I took another ginger and Epsom salt bath in the spa. I find it so refreshing and it is a great time to pray. Today I drank 8 glasses of the lemon cleanser. I had a smooth move.

Today I got up at 7:00AM and I drank a smooth move. I spent some time taking pictures for the fast, the Lord put it in my heart. Today I jogged 1 mile (my spiritual run). It releases endorphins in the brain which make you feel good. I drank 7 lemon cleansers today. This evening my knees are hurting really bad especially my left knee. I have some swelling below the knee cap. I had a smooth move.

Last night and this morning my knees have been hurting. My left knee is a little puffy. I woke up at 7:00AM and had a smooth move. I wanted to do the sea salt flush but I knew it wouldn’t be a good idea to do it today. Getting up and down is painful and the flush calls for a lot of that. I had a few stomach cramps this morning but they stopped. I used some mineral salts in the spa for my knees. I am so hungry for food. My desire for food is strong. I think smelling it makes it harder. I cooked for my husband today. Yesterday I almost got in a wreck because I noticed new restaurants and I ran a red light luckily the other driver stopped. It was like I was in a trance. Lord please take the desire for food away. I had a few days that were easier but most days I desire food greatly. But I know this is the Lord’s will for me and I know this will be a great blessing. I remind myself of all those hurting and what I am going through is nothing compared to all of their pain. I know this will all be worth it in the end. I just need to stay strong and not give in to temptation. I am just being honest of how I feel. Very hungry. Who said you lose your desire for food. It is 15 days and I still desire it. Lord make me strong. Today I drank 6 lemon cleansers and had a smooth move. (I had a dream. There was a storm and the glass door broke. Glass was flying and pieces of glass stuck in my left side. I wanted my mother to take me to the hospital but she said no you go, you will be fine.) I wonder what this dream means.

Last night was my worse night since I started my fast. I couldn’t sleep because my legs ached. Every way I laid hurt. I got up at 5:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. I would love to say fasting is easy but I need to be honest and not sugar coat it. The only reason I won’t give up is because I know this is the will of the Lord and all of the friends on MySpace. I know many are hurting more than what I am going through. Lord, I pray this fast is pleasing to you. My knees are still hurting but they are a little better than yesterday. I think this is the Lord’s way of getting me to slowdown. I may be excreting myself too much. My left knee is still swollen and my right foot has two bumps where my veins are. I laid in the spa today using ginger and Epsom salt. My skin was itching. This evening I have been a little light-headed and dizzy. I drank 8 lemon cleansers and had a smooth move. I should sleep well tonight since I didn’t sleep much last night. Thank you Lord for not letting me give up. My family told me tonight I make fasting look easy.

Again I want to thank everyone who is praying for me. I know your prayers are helping. I got up at 6:00AM and drank a smooth move. I took a short nap around noon and I had a dream. I dreamed I was at this church the evening before service. On the floor laid small mattresses that covered the whole room. The members started coming in and laying down on the mattresses. The next morning they arose and their mattresses turned into seats. I noticed they went straight into worship. They never bothered to have breakfast. When I woke up I was trying to understand what this dream could mean.
I believe the Lord was telling me, prayer comes before food. It is almost 2:00PM and I drank 2 lemon cleansers. My knees are still sore but much better than yesterday and the day before. My legs aren’t hurting anymore. I drank 4 more lemon cleanser. I felt good today.
This evening my legs and knees are hurting again. I guess I was standing too much. I had another smooth move. It is 10:30PM and I am feeling a little itchy, my toes on my right foot are red.

It is 4:05 AM and I can’t sleep, my legs and knees are hurting so bad. I can’t get comfortable. I just drank the sea salt flush. I want to make sure the toxins are getting flushed out. I am itching so my body is probably releasing a lot of toxins at this time. I feel irritable I guess because I can’t sleep. Lord I need you, I know you are here, help me to get rid of this pain in my legs. Well it is almost 6:00 AM and I have the house 80 degrees and I am still cold, so I put on a heavy robe. Before at 70 degrees I would be hot. What a change my body is going through. My elimination is great considering I am not eating food. I am freezing now. This is my first time to fast and being 51 years old I probably have a lot of toxins built up over the years. My stomach is rumbling so I made my lemon cleanser it is 6:08AM. Hopefully I will be able to go to sleep soon. That is another thing different, before the fast I could go to sleep in the blink of an eye. My husband would always say I was the fastest person he knew to fall asleep. I am not used to having insomnia. I rubbed a little tea tree oil on me to help my itching. It is 12:00PM so I am going to lie down and try to take a nap. Now it is 12:50PM that nap didn’t work my legs are hurting to bad, so I am going to lie in the spa. I am only going to use ginger today. It is 2:00PM I just finished my bath. I made the water as hot as I could stand it. I was praying and the interpretation to the dream I had the other day came to me. I wrote about it on day 15. Well this fast is like the storm and the glass in my side is the pain I am going through. My mother telling me I will be fine is the Lord saying I will come out fine from this fast. I want to add this. I noticed a connection between my legs hurting and my blood pressure. It has been higher these last few days since my legs started hurting me. Today I got a reading of 151/93 heart rate 72. It is 6:30 PM and I have been awake since 3:00AM. I can’t sleep yet I am tired. I haven’t been able to jog to release endorphins in my brain and I am feeling depressed. I feel like there is a battle going on inside me between my flesh and my spirit. My flush wants food and the desire for it is overwhelming my spirit says no. I must do the will of the Lord. I think Satan is doing his best to break me. Lord help me! I am doing everything I can to not think about it. But I am struggling because it is hard for me. I can’t do much because of the pain in my legs. I need you Lord, I know I can’t do this alone but I know this is nothing compared to the suffering you Lord endured. Please keep my strong. There are so many others hurting much more than I and I pray Lord you take their pain away. You said enduring pain and suffering for your sake is what makes us worthy for eternal life. I do so much want to fit that mold. I desire your glory. I feel light-headed. Well, it is 7:00PM and I am on my 6 th lemon cleanser. I put a pain relief therapy patch on each knee so I hope I will be able to sleep.

Well, last night I got a good night sleep. I woke up at 7:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. My legs aren’t aching but my knees still hurt. I am still wearing the therapy patch on my knees. I feel much better this morning than I did last night. I laid in the spa using ginger and eucalyptus Dead Sea mineral bath salts. I am really having problems with my knees. They are swelling up. Most of the swelling is below the knee cap but it is very difficult to get up and down. Even walking hurts. I have to walk and try not to bend my knees. This evening I am using a massager on my legs to see if it will help the pain. Lord please heal my knees and take this pain away. I guess the Lord doesn’t want me doing too much while I am fasting. I am sure this is a blessing, just a painful one. My husband and younger son went to eat Mexican food. I personally am not crazy about it so it good they are doing it now. It is good they get to enjoy father and son time together. When they get home we are going to play a game. I still am not watching any TV or getting on the internet. My husband and I aren’t intimate during this time. I explained it will have to wait till my fast is over. I am glad he is understanding. I drank 8 lemon cleansers and had a smooth move.

I woke up at 7:00AM. I made a smooth move. Today is the 20th day and so I have lost 21 pounds. I am sitting listening to gospel music. I feel sad; my flesh is torturing me with the desire for food. It is 1:09Pm and my husband just scrambled eggs and I smell them. I don’t even want to go in the kitchen and see them. I used the massager on my legs again today. I believe it is helping some. I have having a few stomach cramps. It is 3:52PM and I am going on my 5th lemon cleaner. I am trying to get rid of these hungry pains. Lord help me! I had a total of 7 lemon cleanser and another smooth move. I was reading a book by Don Colbert, MD called “Get Healthy Through Detox and Fasting” It is an excellent book and he talks a lot about the spiritual side of fasting. I am thinking the reason my legs have been hurting so much is because my body is in the process of breaking down the plaque that is in my arteries. The book talks about how it elevates the cholesterol which is a good thing. That means the fast is working. Much plaque can build up in your lower extremities. I felt tired most of the day, little energy. I feel the toxins are dumping a lot now. My blood pressure hasn’t gone back to the low readings I got in the early part of my fast. I got a reading of 145/87 still that is much better that before my fast which averaged 175 to 185 over 95 to 112. I peaked at 202/124 having the worse headache on Dec 23, 2006.

Today I got up at 7:00AM. I first made the sea salt flush, took a sip and poured it out. I just couldn’t stomach it this morning so I drank the smooth move. I didn’t have any cravings for food today. I felt good until this evening when my left knee started hurting really bad. I laid in the spa using ginger to help the pain. Today I had 7 lemon cleansers and another smooth move. A neighbor girl brought over some vegetable soup and corn bread for my older son. It smelled so good. I plan to cook soup when I am able to eat again.

This morning I woke up around 6:00AM. I made the sea salt flush. It is 11:49AM, I just showered. I am hungry again, my stomach has been rumbling. I have completed 3 weeks of my fast. I haven’t eaten since Christmas; my last meal was my Christmas dinner. Again I want to thank everyone who has been praying for me. Thank you father for giving me the strength to fight my flesh’s desires. It is 8:18PM for the most part the day was good, but the pain in my knees continues. I just put some more patch on them. I really was hoping to workout but with my knees like this, there is no way. I had 6 lemon cleanser and a smooth move. I have been trying to go to sleep but I am itching. It is 11:51 PM I guess I will go get in the spa and see if it helps. I used my massager on my legs.

It is 1:00PM and I just got out of the tub. I used ginger and sea salt My itching is gone now. I have been breaking out a little on my lower back. A few months ago I notice a lump on my spine. It is located a little lower than the middle of my back. It is about the size of a small bird egg. It is hard and it doesn’t move, but it doesn’t hurt. I have been brushing my teeth about 10 times a day. I don’t feel comfortable with the taste in my mouth. When you detox your tongue gets coated with a white film. I use the tongue scraper to remove it. I like to add a couple of drops of grapefruit seed extract (it kills germs) and a cap full of tea tree mouthwash in my water-pic. That makes your mouth feel refreshed. I would like to add never use grapefruit seed extra (GSE) full strength it will burn you. I am going to make another lemon cleanser then try to sleep. I did go to sleep, I got up around 6:45AM and drank a smooth move, I laid in the spa tonight using ginger, sea salt and clove. I had a smooth move. It is 11:12PM and I am feeling very tired. The bath was very relaxing.
Earlier today I went to the health food store to buy more ginger and they were sold out. A couple of weeks ago when I went they had a bunch. I guess it is a big seller. Of course they are the only one around here selling it.

Last night I dreamed my fast was over and there was so much food around me. I started eating and then I realized I was supposed to start out slow. In my dream I was fine but from all I have read it is very important to start back slowly. The book’s say you can get very sick and in some cases even die.

I woke up around 6:00 AM and made a smooth move. Now it is 8:27AM I feel a little depressed and tired. Maybe these little mood swings are normal when fasting. I know this is the 25th day yet I know I still have 15 days to go and that seems far off to me. Lord help me! Take my desire for food away. Please don’t let me fail. I know this will be a blessing for all my friends on the site. It is 11:23 and I have this mental pain. My flesh wants food and is telling me to eat and my spirit is telling me to do the Lord’s will. I know I must listen to my spirit, but my flesh is screaming out. This is Satan using my flesh to try to lasso my Spirit. I know I can’t let Satan defeat my Spirit. Lord make my Spirit strong against my flesh. I tell myself Moses did it and Jesus did it. Jesus was tempted throughout his fast by Satan. He stayed strong and by defeating Satan the bible says Jesus came out from his fast with the
power of the Spirit. I want the power of the Spirit in my life for my prayers to help those in need and to heal me. This evening I laid in the spa using ginger, sea salt, and clove. I drank 8 lemon cleansers and I had a smooth move. Today my knees are doing much better. My left knee only hurts a little and my right knee is back to normal. My son bought a treadmill and I worked out on it just a little and I did a few setups.

It is amazing how the Lord continues to help me get through each day. Some days have been so difficult yet the Lord provides me with the strength to go on. I am sure many prayers are being answered. Those who have been praying for me I have been asking the Lord to send special blessing your way. I thank you so much from the depths of my heart. Today I woke up around 8:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. During the night I woke up at 4:00AM and it took me about 45 minutes to fall back to sleep, but the rest of the night I slept well. The toes on my right foot look a little strange. The other day my toes on that foot were real red, now they look sort of dried out. At 2:00PM I went to a baby shower. I prayed before and asked the Lord to help me be strong so I could resist any temptation of food. Thanks to the Lord I found it easy even though all the food set right in front of me.

I didn’t sleep well last night, but it was caused by things waking me, the phone and the dogs. I woke up at 7:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. My husband is off work for a few days so he is going to go on the fast for 2 or 3 days. This morning I made him the sea salt flush (32 oz quart size) since this is his first day. I started out drinking the quart the first two times then I decreased it to a pint (16oz). I drank 6 lemon cleansers and had a smooth move. Today was a good day. My husband completed today, but he was feeling tired being this was his first day.

This morning I woke up around 6:50AM. I drank the sea salt flush. I am having a little itching on my mid and lower back. It has started breaking out near the lump on my spine. Since I first noticed the lump a few months ago I have never had any pain associated with it. This evening I did some sit-ups and I had a little workout on the treadmill. I laid in the spa using ginger, sea salt, and clove. I drank 6 lemon cleansers and I had a smooth move. Today is my husbands second day on the fast and he has been very hungry. He has been weak and nauseated. He did the sea salt flush (16oz) this morning. He had 6 lemon cleansers. For him it is difficult drinking the smooth move, he says it is the worst tasting tea he has ever tasted. It doesn’t bother me, I think it taste fine. It gives me something different to taste other than the master cleanser. Before my husband started this fast he was saying things like how easy it is to go without eating for a few days. But just 2 days on the fast he has found it to be difficult. I told him it wasn’t easy but the Lord and the prayers are what’s helping me get through this fast.

Today I woke up around 7:00AM. I drank a smooth move. I weighed this morning and I have lost 26 pounds, I took my blood pressure this morning and I got a reading of 111/68 with a 66 heart rate. I did another reading and this time I got an amazing low of 106/63 with a heart rate of 63. It has been years since I had a blood pressure reading that low, actually I don’t remember it ever being that low, maybe when I was a teenager. I have been listening to Christian radio 100.7 FM; I really enjoy listening to the Bible Answer Man. I drank 6 lemon cleansers and I had another smooth move this evening. I had my husband rub some hydrated Bentonite on my lower back where it has been breaking out. My husband finished up his 3 day fast today.

I woke up at 7:00AM and drank the sea salt flush. Today my husband and I went to the park and we both jogged a mile. My legs never bothered me but I found the jogging difficult. After my jog my throat and lungs felt like they were burning. I have been very hungry today. Since my husband’s 3 day fast is over he ate an orange then he ate a bowl of cheerios with soy milk. So far he feels fine. I must say just driving around in the car there are restaurants everywhere. Yesterday we went to Ace Hardware and they were giving away fresh popcorn. Food is everywhere but then I think about those starving in other countries, it is so hard to imagine the pain those people are suffering. It really makes me sad when I think of the children. It is 3:38PM I am continuing to get amazing blood pressure reading. It is truly awesome. Some would say it is because of the weight lose but three years ago I still weighted less than I do now but my blood pressure was ranging around 155/95 so I know that is more than just weight loss. It is 4:06PM and I took some blood pressure readings and I broke new low records 96/60 and 95/59. I can’t believe how outstanding my blood pressure is, it is remarkable. It is 6:22PM my husband took my youngest son out to eat at Lubys. He had a vegetable plate. I feel very tired and extremely hungry. It is getting harder to down the lemon cleanser. So far I have had 4 of them. Lord help me continue with this fast. My desire for food is great. I know I can only do this with your help. My face looks splotchy and my left eye lid is droopy. Tonight I laid in the spa using ginger, sea salt, and mineral salts. I had 6 lemon cleanser today and a smooth move. It was difficult to get the drinks down but I managed.

Today I woke up at 7:00 AM. I drank a smooth move. I took my blood pressure this morning and I got a reading of 99/56 and a heart rate of 62. That was from my left arm, then I took a reading in my right arm and I got 99/60 heart rate 63. It is 2:41PM and my family ordered pizza, it smells so good. Today I learned something really interesting. There is a big difference between refined salt and unrefined sea salt. Unrefined sea salt is healthy for the body in moderation. It can actually lower high blood pressure. It also has an alkaline effect on the body. A test was done that showed how 1 teaspoon of the unrefined sea salt increased to PH in a ½ cup of water from 6.4 to 6.8-7.0 then the same test was done with refined salt and the PH decreased from 6.4-6.0. A healthy body needs to have a PH that stays around 7.2 though usually in the morning it is lower. I have been reading a book called “Salt Your Way To Health” by David Brownstein, MD. He recommends using either Celtic or Redmond sea salt. It is an excellent book and I highly recommend reading it. His website is www.drbrownstein.com. It is 6:33PM and I am feeling very light-headed. It is 3:42AM and I can’t sleep. I have been awake since 3:00AM. My back is itching and I know it is going to continue unless I go lay in the spa. I am very tired. It is now 5:30AM and I just finished lying in the spa. All my itching is gone, I used ginger and sea salt. After the spa bath I had no trouble sleeping. I woke up at 9:00 AM and drank the sea salt flush. It is 12:37PM and I have just now drank my 1st lemon cleanser. I am getting a late start today. Earlier all I wanted was plain water. It is 9:07 PM and all I have managed to get down is 4 lemon cleansers. I am hungry but I just can’t drink anymore today. I am going to have a smooth move and just plain water. My husband and son went out to eat Mexican Food. We played Bible Trivia this evening.

Each day is a struggle for me. You would think being my last week I would find it easier but my flesh is fighting back harder against my spirit. My flesh is making it hard to drink my drink and I am struggling to get them down. I don’t want to get physically weak. Continual prayer and knowing this is the will Of God is the strength that is getting me through each day. I know this fast will be a blessing for the site, so I know this is necessary that I not let my flesh and Satan win out. Lord please help me get through these last few days! I woke up at 8:30 AM and drank a smooth move. It is hard deciding rather to drink the sea salt or the smooth move because anything I drink is hard to get down. I took my blood pressure and I got a reading of 113/63 heart rate of 60 on my left arm. My right arm had a reading of 111/63 heart rate 56. My emotions are running rapid. I feel like crying. My stomach is rumbling with hungry. I am thinking I may go run and pray. Right now I feel almost like I can’t keep going but I know I must. Lord help me and please don’t let me fail. I know the only way I can do this is with your help. Well, I jogged 1 mile and it felt good. It is 4:19 PM and I just finished my first lemon cleanser. It is getting very difficult for me to drink it. I just poured a glass of water and I am going to drink it. I don’t think I am going to be able to drink my 6 lemon cleansers anymore. I just pray I don’t get weak before my fast is over. I laid in the spa using ginger and sea salt. I managed to drink 3 lemon cleansers today and I had another smooth move.

I woke up at 5:00AM stayed awake about 45 minutes before falling back to sleep. I woke up at 7:08AM and made the sea salt flush but today I couldn’t drink it so I made the smooth move instead. I want food, but it is hard putting the drink in my body. The easiest thing for me to down is water. Everyday now I am getting excellent blood pressure readings. I have lost 28 pounds and I feel much better than before I started my fast. I have 5 days left after today. Each day I have to take it one day at a time. I must make it through my lows and highs with the help of the Lord and those praying for me. Without yours prayers and the Lord I know I would have given up a long time ago. This is the first time in my life to fast so it really has been a new experience. But it has been a struggle so I am not going to lie and say it was easy. Well it is 9:00PM; I laid in the spa using ginger and sea salt. I drank 6 lemon cleansers, but the only way I could get them down was by taking the ingredients separately. I may have to continue this way until my fast is over. I had a smooth move.

I woke up at 4:00 AM and it is now 4:47AM. I have been thinking and praying, I know the Lord is helping me and I think back to the first night when I had dreamed about Jesus holding my hands. He was letting me know from the beginning he was with me. The fact it was a silhouette dream, something I have never had before lets me know it came from the Lord. The Lord is truly amazing. I pray I am doing this fast in a way that is pleasing to you Lord. I woke up at 7:00AM, I was sleeping really well but I had to get up to get my son off to school. I drank the sea salt flush this morning. I took a short nap and had a workout on the treadmill and I did a few sit-ups. I have been drinking my lemon cleansers by separating the ingredients. I managed to get 4 down today and a smooth move.

I woke up around 7:00AM and I drank a smooth move. Since I have been on this fast my family hasn’t been eating very healthy. I have been letting my husband and older son go to the store but they come home with mostly unhealthy food. They never buy vegetables. Today I am going to go to the store and I pray I will stay strong from the temptation of food. I am planning to make a big pot of vegetable soup so after my fast I will sip on the broth and then start eating it. I ended up going to Whole Foods. I made sure to pray before entering the store. If you have ever been to one you know how wonderful that store is. They give out free samples but of course I knew I would not be able to try any. Everything looked great. I bought all kinds of organic fruits and vegetables. I didn’t realize just how much I was spending until I got to the register. I spent $275.00. It is a great store but their prices are high. When I got home I decided to cook for my family since I figured they needed to have a good meal to eat.. I spent hours in the kitchen preparing food. I bought so many different kinds of vegetables. I made a stew for them and some cornbread. I also decided to go ahead a make my homemade vegetable soup. I ended up making two pots of it so I decided to freeze it since I can’t eat any for a few more days. I know freezing isn’t the best way to do things but my excitement got the best of me and I was gun hoe about making it. But now I have something to look forward to when I can eat. I was only able to drink 4 lemon cleansers and I had a smooth move.
Day 38 Thursday
February 1, 2007
I woke up at 7:00 AM and I drank the sea salt flush. I was just thinking of what a blessing this fast has been and for the Lord to put this in my heart. I know my previous years I would never had thought or even desired to take on a fast of this sort. Truly I am blessed for the Lord has continued to get me through each day one at a time. As my fast is nearing the end I continue to give thanks to the Lord and all of you who have been praying for me. Today I laid in the spa for an hour using ginger and sea salt. I only managed to drink 1 lemon cleanser. I am trying to drink plain water. It is very difficult to drink even water but I am trying. I cut up a salad for the family and I made them some peanut butter crispy snacks. I did manage to drink a smooth move.
Day 39 Friday
February 2, 2007
Today I woke up at 7:00AM. I am having a lot of rumbling in my stomach. I feel a little edgy, my patience is wearing thin. Today I drank 2 lemon cleansers and had my morning smooth move and my evening one. It is good my fast is nearing the end because you wouldn’t believe how hard it is now to drink these things. It may have been easier had I had a variety of different juices to choose from, but I didn’t want to change what I had started. It is 10:04PM and I have about 26 hours left.
Day 40 Saturday
February 3, 2007
It is 3:21AM I have been awake for 2 hours. I woke up around 1:00AM and I was itching like crazy. I laid around for about 30 minutes trying to go back to sleep but the itching was terrible so I laid in the spa for about 1 hour using ginger and sea salt. I still have a little itching but it is much better. I feel like my body is dumping a lot of toxins now maybe because I am mostly drinking water. I have lost 33 pounds since I started this fast. I am hoping I will now be able to sleep. I ended up falling to sleep quickly. I woke up at 8:30AM. I could only get down 8 oz. of the sea salt flush. I drank 3 lemon cleansers today. I decided not to drink the  smooth move.
Sunday February 4, 2007 Praise The Lord! I am so thankful the Lord saw me through the fast. AMEN!!! First day after the fast. At 12:15am I heated up some of the homemade organic soup. I ate a small amount and went to sleep. I had no problems eating. I learned that the greatest blessings followed fasting and praying!

Why did God use the plurals US and OUR in Genesis 1:26?

And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
I believe it is referring to the unity of  The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one divine Being. We refer to the three as the Godhead or Trinity.
We are made in HIS image and we are like little Trinities.
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.

The Heart is our spirit compared to Holy Spirit.
The Soul is our breath, body compared with Jesus (body), Son.
The Mind is our thoughts, intelligence compared with God the Father.
Strength is putting them all to together ~ God.
We are made in God’s image!

Son~Body

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
Then go to John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
So we have the Word which is God, then the Word becomes flesh. The flesh is Jesus, the flesh is God, Jesus Is God in the flesh.


The Holy Spirit~“Living Water”
John 7: 37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Why Does God Allow Satan To Unleash Evil On Christians?

As children of God we are disciplined. The trials and hardships are blessings. Endurance is what helps make us complete and worthy in the eyes of the Lord.

When we read the book of Job it is interesting how before Satan could unleash evil on Job he had to get permission from God. The significance here is that Satan is answerable to God; he needs permission from the Lord in order to unleash evil on the Lord’s servants. So then we ask why would God allow Satan to attack His children? The reason for this is because God wishes to honor our free will; not just the free will itself, but the consequences which comes with it.
The word shows us two reasons.
One is for discipline
and One is for trials

“True faith is not getting from God what we want in life, true faith is accepting what God has planned for our lives.” Accepting what God has planned for our lives may mean enduring pain and hardship. We do this through patience that is a “Fruit of the Spirit”. We cannot do it in our own strength. We must rely upon the Holy Spirit of God. Job’s question is still valid today “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” God’s will for our life may involve both good and trouble and we should be willing to accept this through patient endurance as God may be using us as an example to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The book of Job goes into great detail as to the emotions that Job experienced over a considerable period of time.  As the knowledge of the loss of his children sunk in, the physical affliction of his body continued, and the accusation of his friends mounted, you could say Job was down in the dumps. Job’s friends believed that Job had sinned and that God was punishing him for un-confessed sin. Job’s friends questioned Job’s integrity. But we know that was not the case.  Job 1:8 The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”
We see Job was a righteous man.
By the end of the book we see that even though Job didn’t fully comprehend what was going on in his life he realized God did and that was what really mattered. This awareness that God is in control allows us to patiently endure life’s trials even though we may not fully understand the why.

Discipline
Hebrews 12
5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,
NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;
6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES,
AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”
7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?

 12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

11 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Jesus Made Love Mandatory

THE WRITTEN WORD MEANS NOTHING WITHOUT LOVE!

When we use the written word it must be submersed with love in order to help us see the truth.

The word comes alive in the hearts of man filled with love!

James 2:13
For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

If we use the written word without love we are worshiping in vain!

Matthew 22: 36-40

Jesus tells us know love is the greatest commandment. We are to love him and others. Without love we have nothing.
Without Love means there is N0 mercy or forgiveness. It causes division, it breaks up families, it is always judging others and casting stones.
We are to be the lights of the world and walk in the Spirit!
Having a heart filled with the fruit of the Spirit, allowing  it to  pour out on others.

Galatians 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

A heart filled with love has No room for hate!

Pray And Ask God For HIS Spiritual Wisdom~

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

We  all need to pray and ask God for HIS spiritual wisdom because without it there is no way of understanding God’s will for our lives. It is so important to trust the Lord even when tragedy happen in our lives. Look to the story of Job who was a righteous man of God, yet he endured much suffering. He lost his wealth, his seven children and was inflicted with painful boils. Job knew everything he had was really God’s belongings, but he lacked in God’s wisdom and knowledge. Later in the story God shows Job things that are so complex that the human mind can No way understand. Job came to realize it wasn’t his place to question why these things were happening but having complete faith in HIM. Trust in God and remember HIS promise. James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Remember we are to serve God, not the other way around. As Christians it is easy to serve HIM when everything is going good, but what happens when tribulation comes along. Are we hypocritical and turn our back on God, saying how could you let this terrible thing happen. We must trust our God through the good and the bad,  he is wiser than we. We need to understand HIS wisdom is out of this world. Nothing on this Earth is ours, everything belongs to the Lord. Remember to ask the Lord for direction and to show you HIS purpose for your life!

Where is the One True Church?

The one true Church has no walls.  The written word is inspired by the Holy Spirit, yet we have many interpretations of the written word which causes many divisions among the Lord’s children. What happens is, many of us believe a certain way and we desire to show others the truth because we believe we know the truth and others are misinterpreting the word.  So what do we do? As children of God we try to show others how their interpretation is false and what is correct, while they are trying to show us how we are wrong. Have you ever seen Children of God get ugly with one another over interpretations and not seeing the sin in how they are treating one another? I believe one of God’s hidden mysteries is here and we will only see this as we come closer to being transformed into the perfect. Many see these different interpretations as false doctrine. But if we could rise above and see things from the Lord’s eyes using his spiritual wisdom not the wisdom of man, many of these interpretations that divide Children of God have nothing to do with our salvation. 
The Lord is concerned with our hearts and motives. How are we are treating one another?  Are we fighting over what we believe is truth and hurting each other? The Lord warns us not to devour one another. Is our love genuine for HIM and others? I believe the Lord was well aware of the fact we would not agree on every interpretation of the written word, but in order to find perfect unity he knew we must rise above that. If our heart is truly filled with the attributes of the fruit of the Spirit and we are seeing through HIS eyes we will begin to come together through Love which brings about UNITY which is found only in HIM! That is why he said the whole Law can be summed up in one word LOVE! He says in loving him and others we fulfill the Law.

The Lord teaches, what defiles man comes from the heart and when Jesus spoke on the sermon on the mount everything he spoke of had to do with man’s heart. So if our heart is filled with Love there is no room for the things that defile us, like immorality, impurity, sensuality,  idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. The one true church is found in the hearts of the “called out”! Those walking in righteousness through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Galatians 5
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
26 Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
Colossians 3:12-17
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

 What is the Perfect in 1 Corinthians 13:10?

 1 Corinthians 13:
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things…
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
 
Some teach the perfect in 1 Cor. 13:10 is the “Canon of the scriptures”
which leads to putting limits on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives today.
Look at the Greek meaning for the word perfect..
 
Perfect in 1 Cor. 13:10 is the Greek word teleios
 
 1) brought to its end, finished

2) wanting nothing necessary to completeness

3) perfect

4) that which is perfect

a) consummate human integrity and virtue

b) of men

1) full grown, adult, of full age, mature
 

    I believe the perfect in this verse refers to the children of God coming face to face with the Lord and being transformed into our glorified bodies, where hope and faith are no longer needed because we will see fully and LOVE is perfected in total UNITY. When will this happen? Lets look at verses:

1 Cor. 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.
 
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.”

THE PERFECT

 When we come face to face with Jesus, when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. He will make us perfect as he is in our glorified body! There will be perfect Unity, perfect Love and His temple will be complete, made up of living stones.

 
As Children of God we should Never put any limits on the power of Holy Spirit!
