Joy, Happiness, and Thankfulness

Joy is not the absence of afflictions,

but having the Lord’s comfort to deal with them.”

Happiness is not found in our material belongings,

but found in our personal relationship with the Lord.”

Thankfulness is not having what you want,
but being content with what you have.”
2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are
comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;
7 and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our
sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.
Matthew 6:25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what
you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body,
as to what you
will put on.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not
sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds
them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 “Andwho of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28 “And why are you worried about clothing?
Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all
his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 “But if
God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow
is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You
of little faith! 31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’
or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these
things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His
righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.

A HEART FILLED WITH LOVE HAS NO ROOM FOR HATE

A HEART FILLED WITH LOVE HAS NO ROOM FOR HATE

The Bible says God is love. In Matthew 5:44 God tells us to love our enemy, In Matthew 22:39 He tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves. So say you were abused, molested, or raped how should be towards that person? I will tell you man’s way is not the way of God. Man’s way would show hatred and wish the worst on that person for hurting us. But is that how God wants us to be? Nowhere in the bible does God show us these actions are of him. He tells us to have love and compassion, and pray for those who hurt you. The best example is Jesus on the cross praying to God for those who harmed him, asking God to forgive them for they know not what they do. Should we be any different? Allow God and the justice system to handle it. What about people who are gay, of another religious group, or race? Does that give us a right to hate someone because they believe differently or because they are of another color? Not according to the bible, it says to love your enemy. I don’t see where it gives any exceptions. If we are holding hatred in our hearts, it isn’t of God.  I believe this world would be a better place if we all lived God’s way and not man’s way.

(*Loving your enemies doesn’t mean you love the sin, there is a difference. As children of God we need to pray for our enemies and always speak the truth in love, while  refusing to support or condone sin.)

Jesus talks about love and he says the law hangs on two commandments. The first one is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second one is to love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 “This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 “The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 40 “On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ 44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 “If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
