Losing A Loved One to Suicide~

11 Jul

Loss of a loved one to suicide.

Now Comes THE QUESTION Many Have Asked Me~

Some question rather one can be saved if one takes their own life. God would never cause one to do that, but he would allow Satan too. Sin allows Satan in, but Jesus died for our sins. I know the pain of losing a loved one very well, and it leaves those left behind feeling lost and trying to understand why it happened. In 2006, I felt like I was having a nightmare only I could not wake up from it. My daughter’s boyfriend (Sammy) took his own life. Without question it was the worst pain I ever endured. What magnified the pain was some Christians telling me he was condemned to Hell. I cried and prayed to the Lord. I was so concerned over Sammy’s spirit, asking the Lord for HIS answer. I prayed for the Lord’s spiritual wisdom and one day after going on a jog and praying (what I like to refer to as a spiritual run) asking the Lord to help me, God answered my prayer. I came home and just opened my bible, and it seemed to come alive as a scripture popped out at me. 1 Corinthians 5:5 “I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the Destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” It was the answer I hoped for and God gave me an immediate peace and understanding. Sammy had a such a caring heart. I know he knew Jesus. GOD WARNS US OF JUDGING OTHERS. We have NO right to condemn one to Hell because God is merciful. It is HIS job to judge, and our job is to love each other and share God’s word.

God says in Matthew 7:1-2 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

“Remember this, God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those called according to HIS purpose.” Romans 8:28 The Lord used Sammy in my life, HE turned it into a way to serve HIS purpose and help others. The Lord showed me how Sammy was going to reach hearts and share God’s word. The Lord knew how much Sammy loved helping people. He knew how Sammy wanted to be a life-guard because he wanted to save lives. He knew Sammy’s heart. He had a bigger plan for Sammy. God could have stopped Satan, but God had a plan. God sees the big puzzle while we only see pieces of it. When all the pieces come together then we will see the full picture. In John 11:25-26 Jesus said. “The man who believes in me will live even though he dies, and anyone who is alive and believes in me will never die at all. We never know what God has in store for us. God is patient with us. Just know God never makes mistakes, it is just our lack of understanding. Ask Jesus to show you the way!

~When Life Becomes Too Much~

When life becomes too much to bear
With only pain in sight…
Some folks make the choice to die,
By taking their own life. In just one moment, all is lost,
And nothing can replace…
The broken hearts of loved ones dear,
Or the tears that stain their face.

Yet somehow they get through it,
With the grace of God, they do…
Time can heal the deepest wound,
and bring new peace to you. You’ll never know the reason

And it’s not for you to say…

But God responds to every need; Just trust He’ll make a way.

~Remember The Love I Gave~

Don’t judge me for how I left this world,
remember the love that I gave.
A lot of grief will follow me,
for the decision that I have made.

Changes appear in everyone’s life,
some good, some bad.
The one that I chose for myself
made everyone very sad.

But in time, memories will heal the hurt of hearts
and my presence will be felt by all with an inner peace.
Remember me when the sun is bright and laughter fills the air,
and a moonlit night and whispers of wind
will tell you that I am there.

Don’t look down on my family
or fill their hearts with blame.
For my leaving them without good-byes,
they will never be the same.

If I could go back in time, I say a last good-bye,
I’d tell them to look to tomorrow
and for me……do not cry……

Those Who Have Lost a Loved One to Suicide

Sammy Flores Jr.

Sammy Flores Jr~ April 20, 1987 – May 6, 2006
I pray for all those who have lost a loved one to suicide. It is never easy for those left behind. The only way to truly find any comfort is through our precious Lord.  Praying for all of Sammy’s family and friends.
RIP Sammy, you live on in the hearts of all those who loved and knew you!

~Sammy Lives On~

Sammy helped me to see things more clearly. We can’t always choose the situations that life brings us, but we can choose the attitude we will use to face them. The best way to stop worrying or to receive comfort is to start praying. But God may not give us comfort if it keeps us from doing what he wants us to do. Learn from the mistakes of others. We will never live long enough to make them all ourselves. Pray for people who dislike you. Whenever you feel insignificant, remember how important you are to God. Encourage each other and build each other up. A word spoken in anger cannot be erased. It plays over and over again. Walk on soles, not on souls. Be generous with praise and stingy with criticism. To belittle is to be little. And remember what happens in us is more important than what happens to us.

A Little Tribute

A little tribute true and tender,
Just to show that we remember,
Time may pass and fade away,
But memories of you will always stay!

Missing someone get’s easier everyday,
Because even though it is one day further
from the last time you saw each other
it’s one day closer to the next time you will!

Gain and loss, birth and death
are in the hands of God!

this really helped me and my mom, I am adopted by my grandmother and raised by her and my uncle who is her oldest son. He was my dad for all reasons. when i was 14 years old 17 days before Christmas he committed suicide. it was possible the hardest thing that my family has ever had to endure. when i found out the very first person to say anything to me was my aunt Penny and she told me he went to Hell. and I refuse to believe that he loved God and was a very great person, he helped people for no other reason but to do the right thing. God knew his heart and I pray everyday for God to have mercy on him. Because satins control was just to powerful for him to resist any more . I love my dad and know that God had a greater purpose for him but that does not make it any easier for the rest of us left behind. Thank you so much for your message . God bless you and your family. and thank you again for shearing this loving message , that helped us so much.

Your most welcome Crystal. I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad this helped you. The Lord gave me comfort through the Hope he showed me concerning Sammy’s spirit and I am so thankful I am able to help others by showing this Hope we have from a merciful Lord.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; 7
and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

Sadly, I too, can relate. As a teen, even a young man I never knew anyone personally who committed suicide. But since my 30’s I have seen this too many times. The first being a friend’s Wife. She drove to the local lake and shot herself in the head. Since then I’ve had two co-workers commit suicide by gun and a friend of 30 years overdose on pain pills. I cannot understand what pushes someone to take their own life but no doubt depression plays a big role in some cases I which the persons mind is not the same. I believe a Christian could fall into depression and allow this to occur. God be the judge in such cases.

When a loved one dies if they are saved . They are a sleep in Jesus and they are not lost without any hope. Those who are not saved are the ones who are lost.

Yes Annie, I love the comforting words given to us!
      1 Thessalonians 4
      Those Who Died in Christ
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

I follow you on Pinterest and I found this, and I am so broke hearted. Someone very close to me,very special to me committed suicide on December 7th,2012. And I found him. I have been struggling with this for the past 5 months, every single day. I am a Christian,I believe everything the Bible says. I have finally stopped looking for the answers “why”,although it does still come across my mind. I am trying to focus in getting through to the acceptance and continue living my life. Thank you very much for sharing your story,I hope you know how much it is appreciated.

Thank you for your kind words, I am so sorry for your loss. Today May 6, actually marks 7 years since we lost Sammy. My daughter was the one who found him. Even after 7 years the memories are still fresh in our minds, yet I am thankful for the comfort the Lord has given us.

      He Gathers Every Teardrop…

      Regardless of the circumstance,
      Regardless of the fear,
Regardless of the pain we bear,
      Regardless of the tear.

Our God is ever in control,
      Performing as He should,
And He has promised in His Word
To work things for our good.

But as a loving Father would,
      He sometimes lets us cry
To cleanse the hurt out of our heart,
To wash it from our eye.

      Yet gently gathers the tears
      Within His hands to stay
Until He turns them into pearls,
      and gives them back someday.

Wouldn’t suicide be a sin in God’s eyes because one took their own life by obeying the lies that was from Satan. If Sammy had really love Jesus and wanted Him to use him for His glory wouldn’t He have trusted in the Lord instead of Satan? You said no one can judge but God alone, however, God did give us His Word so we may know what is right from wrong. If He truly did love the Lord he would have entrusted the Lord with His life instead of taking it. Not everyone who calls Him Lord, Lord will enter through the narrow gate. Jesus clearly states that in the Bible. I hope you ask God once again about where Sammy salvation lies in.

CW Thao I appreciate your concern and yes the gate is narrow. But I must trust what the Holy Spirit showed me concerning Sammy. The Lord is the one who knew Sammy’s heart and the pain he was going through. He was only twenty years old, sadly suicide is the third leading cause of death among our youth.
The Lord molds us and uses us in ways which we do not always understand. Romans 9 explains this. I know God is merciful and suicide is NOT the unforgivable sin.

I agree with you, my son committed suicide on 3/13/13 at 3:00pm. He had a history of drug abuse and used again and just couldn’t fight it anymore. He was addicted to heroin and satan did a number on him telling him over and over that he was never going to beat it, that no one cared for him, that he was a loser and sadly many of our own family who are Christians agreed with him and cut him out of their lives only adding to satan’s lies. There were 450 people who attended his memorial service – so much for being unloved! He touched more people in his short 27 years than most people do in a long life. There is a reason why God writes the story and we don’t – my son was brought to this earth for a purpose and only God knows what his purpose was and it was supposed to end the way it did for reasons unknown to us. But I can tell you that his death impacted many, many lives and planted many, many seeds.

We are all deceived by satan in numerous ways and don’t even know it. He knew so much but as most of us couldn’t really believe that God could save him. Like Peter – he saw Jesus do miracles all the time – saw him walking on the water – got out of the boat and then doubted and sank.

I know that my son is saved, I believe it with all of my heart, I have always had peace about it and have never doubted it. This is the way I see it – Ian was brought to this earth by God and was entrusted to me as his earthly mother, but ultimately he belonged to God as we all do and returned home to Him. He made the journey and to me how he got there makes no difference to me.

Thank you for writing on this subject, I appreciate your words and your honesty. God Bless You!

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this. May the seeds that have been planted, grow and blossom.
          God Bless You!

1st Corinthians 5:5 is such a powerful scripture. I’m an outsider looking in, but thank you for having the courage to write this. It seems to have impacted many…
